What is Launch?

Launch is a STREAM program located in the Hi-Crest neighborhood that focuses on providing life giving resources and life changing experiences through loving relationships for kids in order to support their educational success.

Who knows, Launch may inspire the next professional photographer, biomedical engineer, author, electrical technician or pilot!

STREAM? What is that?

  • Science— Learn how kidneys work, Do science experiments, Dissect a heart.
  • Technology — Build a Lego Robot, Program a Video Game, Build Solar Cars, Learn Photography Skills, Learn to code!
  • Reading — Practice reading skills, Interact with the story, Learn to journal.
  • Engineering — Shoot off rockets, Design ways to get clean water, Build bridges, Build hydraulic machines.
  • Art — Create Pottery, Make Jewelry, Learn Wood Working, Learn Painting
  • Math — Use skills to solve problems, Build kites.

Who is Launch for?

Launch is for kids in Pre-K – 12th grade (priority registration, before May 25, for students in Highland Park district)

When is Launch?

June 11th — July 25th (7 weeks)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 11:00am – 3:30pm

Where is Launch?

Launch takes place at Avondale East Elementary School.

Is there a cost for the Launch Program?

The program fee is only $5/week for each student.  If that is not possible for your family right now, partial scholarships are available (contact us).  However, please do not keep your child from participating in launch due to the ability to pay!

We are asking for a full commitment to allow your child to experience the  Launch program to the fullest. We ask that your child miss no more than 5 days per session.

We need volunteers, teachers, tutors, and more. How do I sign up?

  • Our hands on STREAM curriculum will be taught by a large team of teachers. (teaching students, teachers, retired teachers) We would be thrilled to have you teach!
  • If your not a teacher, we have many other volunteer opportunities available.
