Johnathan Sublet with SENT Topeka visited Eye on NE Kansas to share how the organization is working to address housing stability.
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The holidays can be stressful enough, but worrying about whether you’ll have a roof over your head adds to the pressure.
Johnathan Sublet with SENT Topeka visited Eye on NE Kansas to share how the organization is working to address it.
Sublet said daily survival stress, such as housing insecurity, can trigger issues like substance use disorder. Stable housing, coupled with access to treatment, health care and support services, can assist stress management and recovery.
SENT has been taking steps to increase access to affordable housing through projects like the Johnson-Betts Meadows development.
Sublet said consistent housing is a key factor in enhancing social stability. He said it improves routines, reduces isolation and increases employment opportunity.
