SENT Inc. Launches a Community Fundraiser for the “Beat the Heat” Initiative which Provides Affordable Window Air Conditioning Units to Families in Under-Resourced Neighborhoods
Topeka, KS – Heat is the deadliest weather-related hazard in the United States. The heat disproportionately affects low-income families, medically fragile individuals and senior citizens living in under-resourced neighborhoods. The “Beat the Heat” Initiative provides affordable access to energy rated window air conditioning units while providing an educational component about the environmental impact of rising temperatures and energy usage.
The “Beat the Heat” Community Fundraiser’s goal is to raise $15,000 which will allow SENT Inc. to purchase 100 energy rated window air conditioners. Families will then have the opportunity to purchase a brand-new unit for only $50. SENT Inc. will subsidize the rest of the cost per unit through community donations. This affordable option will allow families to cool at least one room in their home when it is dangerously hot.
“This Initiative helps address a serious public health concern that exists for low-income families, medically fragile individuals and senior citizens by providing them with a cooling option in their homes. In the end, this is about more than comfort – it’s about providing them with hope and dignity and protecting their health,” said Johnathan Sublet, Founder & Executive Director of SENT Inc.

“We are asking for financial support from our community for the “Beat the Heat” Initiative so that we can protect our most vulnerable neighbors during the extreme heat coming our way this summer” said Aimee Copp-Hasty, Senior Director of Development, SENT Inc.
