TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local non-profit said its scaling back it’s newest pantry, one week after opening.

SENT Topeka announced Monday it’s having to cut back the number of families it can support at it’s Southside Filling Station. It’s seen 150 per day and are now dropping to 50 because it’s becoming overwhelming. The filling station provides low income families in the area to receive the proper food they need.

SENT Topeka however told 27 News, despite the drop, it’s are still on track to serve 12 times its goal.

“We can’t boil the ocean, but we can still impact and make change,” Johnathan Sublet, founder of SENT, said. “And so that’s what we’re hoping to do. We’re hoping to do what we can and do it in a healthy manner for all involved.”

The Southside Filling Station is open Tuesday through Thursdays, and is accepting donations and volunteer help.
