TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A behavioral health team in southeast Topeka is taking new steps to reach out to teens.
Char’dae Bell, a behavioral health specialist with SENT Topeka, visited Eye on NE Kansas to detail their Campus Connections program.
Campus Connections is part of SENT’s Kansas Fights Addiction Campaign. They hope to help teens make healthier and safe choices.
Among the activities is Creative Expressions. Bell said it will help young people develop a stronger sense of self through creative, therapeutic experiences. Those could include anything from painting, drawing and collage, to journaling, dance or movement.
Bell said young people often cannot find the words to express their feelings, but those emotions can come out through a creative outlet.
The final session of the Creative Expressions Lunch Bunch is noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at SENT Topeka, 455 SE Golf Park Blvd. It is free, and all students are invited.
