“Together, we are building a community where health is not a privilege but a right, bridging gaps and transforming lives in Southeast Topeka.” — Johnathan Sublet
At SENT, Inc., our mission is to walk alongside individuals, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to flourish in every area of their life. This is why we’re excited to announce an initiative that will change lives in 2025: the Southside Wellness Clinic.
Why It Matters
Southeast Topeka faces a critical healthcare challenge, with the highest number of uninsured individuals and children in Kansas. Healthcare coverage is a tremendous stressor for many in our community. Without it, people delay seeking care, sometimes with life-altering consequences.
Consider this: two weeks ago, our Volunteer DCF Benefits Navigator experienced a medical emergency while serving. Without immediate care, her condition escalated. Had the Southside Wellness Clinic been operational, immediate intervention might have prevented severe complications. Stories like this underscore the urgent need for accessible healthcare services right here in our community.
SENT believes there is a solution for everyone, and we want to help them connect. For some, that means accessing Medicaid. Our Neighbor Advocate team can help those who need help determining if they qualify for Medicaid benefits and help them complete sign-ups. For those who don’t qualify for Medicaid but fall between 100%-400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, our Neighbor Advocate team helps them access the available tax credits so that they can utilize the Affordable Care Act to gain healthcare coverage. For those who fall outside of that category, SENT is partnering with the Stand Together Foundation to offer access to Aimee Health. Aimee Health is the same organization that provides telehealth services for astronauts at the NASA space station. Through Aimee Health, community members pay $5/mo to access low-cost drugs and lab tests, $9.99 virtual urgent care visit, $29.99 virtual primary care visit, and $299/mon medical weight loss, including medications and weekly coaching. Aimee is the absolute lowest-cost option for this type of health care.
But no matter which of the above solutions fits the primary care needs of an individual or family, SE Topeka’s designation as a Healthcare Professional Shortage Area and a Medically Underserved Area necessitates the need for SENT’s soon-to-be-hired Community Health Advocate, and the Express Care Services offered through the soon to launch the Southside Wellness Clinic.
Holistic Health, Holistic Healing
The Southside Wellness Clinic, an express care facility, will integrate seamlessly with SENT’s broader mission. Whether residents come for a pantry visit, mental health support, or tax assistance, they’ll also have access to vital healthcare services.
Together, We Create Change
This initiative is a critical step in transforming Southeast Topeka into a thriving, healthy community. But we can’t do it alone. Join us in building a brighter future.
Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to open the clinic doors in 2025.
Warm regards,
