FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SENT, Inc. and Topeka Doula Project Partner to Expand Maternal Health Support in Southeast Topeka

Topeka, KS — May 5, 2025 — SENT, Inc., a Topeka-based nonprofit focused on holistic neighborhood transformation, and the Topeka Doula Project, a volunteer-run organization providing pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support, are proud to announce a strategic partnership to provide comprehensive wraparound care for mothers in Southeast Topeka.

This partnership offers up to 18 months of support, spanning pregnancy through the postpartum period, and includes a robust package of maternal health and wellness services valued at $8,200 per participant.

Comprehensive Support for Mothers

Through this collaboration, mothers will receive doula care during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery, along with access to SENT’s integrated wraparound services. These comprehensive services include:

  • Doula services: prenatal through postpartum
  • Food provisions
  • Neighbor Advocacy Services
  • Prenatal Massage or Stretching sessions
  • Chiropractic care
  • Clinic and medical care
  • Substance use disorder and/or mental health services
  • Neurofeedback
  • Parenting classes
  • Transportation support

Together, these services aim to reduce barriers disproportionately impacting under-resourced communities’ birth outcomes.

Empowering Healthy Beginnings

The Topeka Doula Project brings deep expertise in maternal care, focusing on supporting teen, low-income, and formerly incarcerated or reintegrating mothers. Their trained volunteer doulas provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support—proven to improve health outcomes for both mothers and babies.

When we surround a birthing person with consistent, compassionate care, and connect them with resources beyond the birth itself, we create healthier families and stronger communities.

Serving Southeast Topeka Together

This initiative will be based primarily in the Hi-Crest neighborhood, where SENT has built strong relationships and infrastructure to serve families holistically. Both organizations are committed to closing the gap in maternal health disparities, especially in communities where social determinants of health present significant challenges.
