SENT Inc. partners with Cairn Health to improve health outcomes by providing access to affordable prescription drugs, diabetic supplies, and vision care through the Southside Wellness Clinic. The goal is to enhance patients’ quality of life through this partnership and under the care of the Southside Wellness Clinic at SENT. Creating person-centered wellness plans while utilizing the resources available through Carin Health will help improve patient care monitoring and management. In addition, this partnership will reduce the strain on community-based health resources and reduce the need for emergency care at local hospitals. In this partnership, Cairn Health will rely on the Southside Wellness Clinic to create referrals for prescriptions, diabetic supplies, and eyeglasses. Cairn’s prescription formulary changes monthly based on prescriptions donated to them from a variety of sources, with the majority coming through the Dispensary of Hope. Cairn Health will provide the Southside Wellness Clinic with over-the-counter (OTC) medications, which will be dispensed at no cost to Clinic patients who cannot afford to purchase them on their own. The OTC medications were funded by a grant Cairn Health received from The Topeka Community Foundation.
This partnership expands access to those served through SENT’s Southside Wellness Clinic by creating a strong referral system with Cairn Health.
How It Works – Eyeglasses
- Make an appointment at SENT’s Southside Wellness Clinic.
- Provide all eligibility documentation.
- Provide a valid eyeglass prescription from an optometrist.
- Referral paperwork will be sent to Cairn Health by the Southside Wellness Clinic.
- Costs:
- Single vision glasses: $40
- Bifocals: $60
How It Works – Prescriptions
- Make an appointment at SENT’s Southside Wellness Clinic.
- Provide all eligibility documentation.
- Referral paperwork will be sent to Cairn Health by the Southside Wellness Clinic.
- Provide a mailing address for prescription shipping.
- Provide payment for co-pays, typically ranging from $10–$30 depending on the medication prescribed.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a Kansas resident
- Be uninsured or underinsured (including no Medicare Part D or prescription coverage)
- Meet income requirements
- Provide identification for all household members
- Provide proof of residence
